Inspired by Forgetting

A different animation style experimenting with ideas of memory.

The twirling leaf was inspired by my friend Stacy Schmidt's short story about getting rid of a memory. I thought the imagery she used of spinning a leaf's stem between your fingertips was really beautiful, so I animated it.

Prisoner of Routine

Three weeks into university and I'm beginning to feel like I'll become a prisoner of routine again. Here's a very quick and unpolished pencil animation I made this evening to reflect that.

A couple of sidenotes:

1. yes, this character is based on me.
2. the coordination of striped sweater and prisoner theme was completely coincidental.

Animated Person

This little animation was made from some "observations" in the Royal Scottish Academy. I definitely wasn't going around sneakily filming unsuspecting people...

Animation

I've been working on this animation over the past couple of weeks as a response to the Ted Hughes' poem Moon Horrors. Can't believe this is what I get to do for homework!

Procrastination

Sometimes I procrastinate illustration course work by working on various side projects instead. Here's a look at a few things I've done today.

A quick graphic drawing done in Illustrator for a random on reddit.com/r/redditgetsdrawn:
Playing with textures and shapes in Illustrator to create an abstract background:

And a little manifesto gif made in Illustrator and Photoshop: (begins with "if it isn't there...")

Unfortunately I'm unable to find the source of this quote, but here is where I originally found it.

Test Animation

Made a very short stop frame animation today during a Photoshop animation tutorial. Just testing to see if it can be posted successfully here.
